Private SKATE coaching
What will you learn?
Just tell us what you would like to learn. On meeting your group, our instructor will quickly assess and see how realistic your goals are. You will be supported to learn new skills, focussing on good technique. Everybody’s progress is different, and roller skate skills are tricky at first! Once you feel comfortable and balanced on 8 wheels, and feel more confident, skills will develop more quickly. We suggest you wear protective pads to help you feel comfortable.
Roller skating is a great exercise for all ages. We have hire skates in UK sizes ranging from junior 8 to adult 12. Children are welcome to join you in your private group. Age is no barrier!
Venues: Venue hire is not included in our price as indoor venues are currently very difficult to book. We suggest outdoor sessions are better during the dryer months (May- September), even if the ground is not as smooth.
Between the months October - April you will need to provide an indoor space to hold your lesson as learning to skate in wet weather is not advised. Please ensure you read our terms and conditions on indoor spaces at the bottom of this page before submitting a request.
Travel included within the Leeds and Wakefield postcode areas only
Group size: Our group size is important to ensure that you get the best experience and make maximum progress. We will not go above 8 people for private tuition. Please note - groups must be comprised of adults or adults and children (i.e. family groups). We do not currently run child - only sessions
1-2-1 First Hour (extra hour)
Large group - Up to 8 (extra hour)
Small Group - Up to 5 (extra hour)
Weekend and Evening supplement
Roller skate hire included – just let us know at the time of booking the sizes you’ll need. We are also able to provide protective pads, these are currently washed and sanitised between uses. Please make sure they are placed in the bag provided at the end of the session, and not mixed with the other pads.
Our 1-2-1 coaches (more coaches coming soon!):
Mel is our company director and is passionate about getting the world rolling on eight wheels! She is a qualified roller skate instructor and primary school teacher with 20 years of experience. Having been inspired by the international community at Skate Love Barcelona, Mel established the first skills roller dance class in Leeds in 2017. She has since taught roller skate workshops across the North of England and online to an international audience, as well as continued to seek opportunities for personal growth. In order to support the huge growth in the roller skate community in 2020, Mel has been training a group of instructors to deliver roller skate skills with compassion, as she believes that roller skating is for every body.
Terms and Conditions: Please pay a deposit of 50% to secure the date, at least 2 weeks in advance. If you require hire skates, we expect you to reserve these at the time of booking. Lessons must be fully paid at least 24 hours in advance.
Indoor Spaces Policy: If booking a 1-2-1 session between October - April you must provide the Indoor venue in which the lesson is to take place (with the exception of Thursdays @ Leeds Corn Exchange). If you are booking a 1-2-1 to take place at an indoor venue not provided by Roller Girl Gang you must ensure that you have adequate permission to hold a lesson on roller skates in that space - please ensure that this is obtained before raising an enquiry with us. In addition, our cancellation policy (below) applies if that venue should cancel your booking for any reason.
Cancellation policy: • Should our instructors cancel for any reason, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid. • If you cancel more than 2 weeks from the date of the workshop or class, we will refund your full deposit. • If you fully cancel less than 2 weeks from the date of the workshop or class, your deposit will not be refunded.
Waiver of liability: All roller skating is undertaken at participants own risk. Our instructors are qualified roller skate coaches, hold enhanced DBS certificates, are emergency first aid trained and are fully insured. All participants must sign a waiver of liability before taking part. Parent / legal guardian to sign for children under 18.
