About The Event

We are going to potter about the flatter section of the delightful East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) for an hour or so.  The section between the A58 - A64 is particularly gentle.  The section from the old A6120 towards Seacroft / Roundhay is a good for gentle hill practise and the section from A64 towards The Springs retail park is quite the roller coaster!

As the cycle path and pedestrian path is set away from the road, this is particularly suitable for less confident skaters and all ages.

Parking:

Parking is challenging, as there is no designated parking for user of the ELOR, however there are pull in areas just off the A58/A6120 roundabout and where Skeltons Lane crosses, towards Whinmoor.  Please park in a way that will not cause any obstruction to other road users or local residents.

What to bring:

  • Your skates - there is no skate hire
  • Potective gear
  • Shoes
  • Water

Please note:

RGG aims to create safe spaces for roller skaters of varying experience levels, so you are welcome if you are new to street skating.  We usually ensure that a skater who knows the route is at the back of the street skate so that no one gets left behind.

That said we would expect that you follow the below recommendations:

Whilst Roller Girl Gang team members who attend outdoor meetups will try and keep participants safe, all skating activities are at your own risk, as it would be if you were skating alone.

Outdoor meetups are not coaching sessions, they are social meetups and whilst RGG team members may give some skating advice, it is purely at their discretion.

Participants must ensure they are both well enough to skate and have the skills to skate in the location where the meetup is being held.

You do not need to complete the entire route, If you do decide to leave the group for any reason, we would appreciate it if you ensure that someone staying in the group is aware that you are leaving.

If at any point you do not feel safe or comfortable, we recommend you remove your skates.  This action is at your discretion and you must not rely on a team member to tell you to do so.
