About The Event
Please note: There is NO Skate Hire for dance classes
What will we learn? Are you looking to level up your roller skating and improve your coordination and control? Roller dance is a great way to do this - we will teach you some different movements you can practise at home (roller dance is also small space friendly) - and we will learn a few dances so we are disco ready! We will cover a range of roller dance movements and styles.
Each week we will re-visit steps and sequences, so we can build familiarity and confidence. We will also introduce something new, then combine elements into a little routine.
Expect some of our favourite routines too! (We do *really* like Beyonce.)
To get the most from this class
- you should be able to roll forwards,
- stand still
- step from side to side
- fall safely
- crossing your feet is a bonus
- rolling backwards is a bonus
Make sure you wear any protective pads you need to feel safe - we are all at different stages in our journey, and better to be safe than to bruise your knees!
What is the difference between a “Practise session” and the other classes you run?
A practise session contains workshops - these cover skills that the attendees would like to practise. These are not 1-2-1 sessions and we will endeavour to fulfill as many requests as possible. You do not have to participate in workshops if you would like to work on other things. A rink area to skate in an anti-clockwise direction and a cone area will be available for practise throughout the session.
Classes are structured sessions and are designed to take you through progression of skills - see the separate class descriptions for more details on what the class will cover.
How do I find the venue?
The Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre is near Sheepscar Interchange on Chapeltown road. Drive in through the ornate gates and up the slope to the sports hall at the back of the site.
