About The Event

Want to join us for the Summer Solstice skate, but you're worried about skating outdoors?

Maybe you've tried outdoor skating already? Like Mel, you want to know the route BEFORE you skate it?

Places are limited.

This session is designed to elevate your confidence with techniques specifically for outdoor skating as well as helping you know how to decide if a space feels safe to skate in.

Bring all your own kit, including any safety gear you need - we are not able to hire skates for outdoor skating.

What to expect + Itinerary:

6:30pm Meet at The Skate Sanctuary, one hot drink included with your ticket.

7pm Discussion about route and demonstration of techniques that support outdoor skating.

7.30pm Walk part of the route + invitation to put your kit on to try techniques to support outdoor skating.

8.30pm Return to The Skate Sanctuary to cool down

Please make sure you are on-time, as we will be leaving The Skate Sanctuary during the workshop, and depending on the participants will depend how far away we may be!

Parking:

There is free parking on-site. Parking bays are fairly tight - please park within the lines.

Can I bring my own refreshments?

Yes of course.  We want to keep this skate space alcohol free, so ask you do not bring alcohol to consume on the premises, including the car park. If you bring your own water bottle, we are able to refill this for you for free.  We also have a small selection of soft drinks for sale.   Please make sure you are not eating and drinking while you skate, that includes chewing gum.

I wear inline skates, can I come?

Yup. We welcome all wheely-booted folks.

I don't identify as a girl, can I come?

Absolutely!  Roller Girl Gang was founded and is run by women, with the support of our fantastic volunteer team, to provide better access to roller skating for all genders and identities, especially marginalised folks.

Can I collect my shop order?

You absolutely can, providing you have made the order with sufficient time for the team to plan this.  You can contact the shop directly on +44 7479 430404 .

How do I find the venue?

The Skate Sanctuary is the first ground floor building at Mabgate Mills.  Approach from Skinner Lane and then you need to cross the pavement (the pavement is lowered but it always seems a bit weird to cross the pavement!) to Macaulay Street.  Mabgate Mills entrance is immediately right, through large gates. Go down the ramp into the enclosed car park.
