Service Description
These sessions are designed to help you progress on your roller skating journey, by introducing new skill and practising and refining skills you already have. 06/10/24 - Now @ Skate Sanctuary studio for this week only Spinning and Jumping - this week we'll be practicing different types of spinning - starting with heel - toe spins and possibly covering toe spins, toe stop spins and one foot spins. To break things up we'll also be working on Jumping - Learn a good jumping technique to improve stability and protect your joints whilst jumping 27/10/24 - Roller Derby skills for non derby players - Hosted by RGG's coaches and marshalls who have a roller derby skating background. This workshop is designed to introduce skills and drills that roller derby players use but in our regular supportive environment 03/11/24 - Crossovers. Crossover technique to get you moving a little bit faster than you are now - forwards and maybe backwards! The intention is to gradually get you to move faster than you are comfortable with using the most effective technique. This workshop is intended for skaters ready to push themselves out of their comfort zone, and embrace the wind on their faces as they go a little bit faster 17/11/24 - Backwards. Going backwords is a rite of passage for most skaters. We'll cover different ways of moving backwards, from lemons, and backwards boogie, to moonwalk and backwards crossovers To get the most from this session, we suggest you can already: roll forwards and lemon / bubble starting to roll backwards can stop with some control can fall safely starting to turn General things to remember The ability level for this class is very very wide, we will help you identify your next steps for progression. Emphasis in this class is on good technique Growth mindset in our skaters is encouraged - this class is designed to push you out of your comfort zone, however all exercises are optional. Many of these skills will likely take months or years to perform confidently on a range of surfaces and from high speed - this class gives you the opportunity to practise with coaching support. While we would love you to take part in the whole session, our approach is person-centred. That means you do what feels safe for you.
