We will then join the traffic free Castleford Greenway from Aketon Road and likely put skates on on the Greenway. We will head along the Greenway towards Green Row Bridge. The route is linear, so should you need to leave earlier than the group majority, you should be able to find your way back easily. Walking time from the parking location to the bridge is around 30 minutes.
The Castleford Greenway is an old railway track, so cute straight through the countryside towards Methley. While it is straight, it is not entirely flat, and there are some gentle and less gentle slopes. If you are less confident on hills, here is a chance to improve your confidence level, practise your toe stop control backwards and more.
What to bring:
Shoes
Water
Snacks
Skates!
Any protective gear you need to feel confident.
A bit of change as there are a couple of cafes that could be accessed along the way if you choose to.
Please RSVP so we can get in touch in case there are changes to this plan or we need to cancel due to poor weather.
Whilst Roller Girl Gang team members who attend outdoor meetups will try and keep participants safe, all skating activities are at your own risk, as it would be if you were skating alone.
Outdoor meetups are not coaching sessions, they are social meetups and whilst RGG team members may give some skating advice, it is purely at their discretion.
Participants must ensure they are both well enough to skate and have the skills to skate in the location where the meetup is being held.
If at any point you do not feel able to skate to the required standard, we recommend you remove your skates. This action is at your discretion and you must not rely on a team member to tell you to do so.
