Skaters' Stories Series - Episode 3: Becky

by Mel Blackwood

Roller Girl Gang's vision is to empower people to roller skate into their most joyful life.

Stories are powerful and even more so when they are told by individuals. This project has been very humbling. The very personal things that folks have chosen to share are gifts. You'll see!

Episode 3: Becky

Everyone has a story to tell. We want to learn more about why roller skates are so special to so many people – no matter your age, gender, race, culture or ability. We hope this series inspires you to try roller skating, because roller skating brings us so much joy!

Becky (She/her) shares a story that will surely leave many of our skate community nodding in agreement. She shares her how roller skating supports her mental wellness and self-care routine as well as how it has supported her self-confidence. Thank you for such honesty with your story Becky. Our values are in complete alignment.

Becky says “Just do the thing. Don’t wait for the [perfect conditions as they don't exist]! You’re missing out on the joy you could have in the meantime.”
